Really sorry to hear this Richard, makes me a little paranoid as I am three weeks away from my ten year.

Look at it as a beginning rather than an ending.

No problem. I was actually being flippant and quoting the main character from the movie Network's famous lines - not expressing my own opinion. But, I had, in fact, read about what he did and why and am familiar with the soon to be retiring senator from Kentucky. I really do try to keep informed, but I also try not to inject my personal political opinions here.

I, too, send Richard my best wishes and hope that he finds a new job fast. But, if he does find one where he gets to go to cool, exotic places, and play with great high tech gear, please let me know, because I think that would be right up my alley too. I'd prefer camera gear....he may be talking about something else.

Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Ky won't affect your U.I. because you are just starting the procedure. He's holding up the extra extended benefits that congress wants passed for those whose benefits have completely run out and still don't have work.
It may however affect your ability to get COBRA health insurance coverage, which means you may suddenly be uninsured.

I do not understand how this would effect his filing for cobra unless you are speaking about the portion that the government was paying for you. Remember he does get 18 months Fed cobra if his employer has 20 or more employees and then he can get an additional 6 months state continuation. Hopefully he has found a job before all this time would run out.
