You can see a video of the story about the nude snow-woman, banned by a New Jersey town, below.
According to reports the nude snow-woman was enough of a problem that a Rahway police officer went to the home of Maria Conneran and asked her to cover the snow-woman because of a complaint received by the department. The police officer was apologetic, but ultimately asked the family to cover the sculpture.
Conneran and her family complied with the request and decided to be creative in their covering. A green bikini top and a blue sarong later the sculpture was now appropriate for Rahway, New Jersey. It seems funny to me that the state that brings us “Jersey Shore” has a problem with a snow sculpture showing something similar to what you would find in a museum. I guess irony is lost that close to the Atlantic.
So, nude snow-women banned in New Jersey, nude snowmen allowed. There may be some sort of equal rights issue that some creative lawyer will want to pounce all over. If you want to make it to Rahway, New Jersey to see the nude snow-woman you are too late. The warm weather finished off the job that some anonymous citizen began. So, what do you think? Should the snow-woman have been covered up? Is it pornography? Is it news? Should we care? Leave your comments below and let us know what you think.

I like how they "covered" it up, too. Maybe next winter they can make a snowman patterned after Michaelangelo's David.

It brings to mind the hick from Conroe that complained of the reproduction statue of David in a strip mall in north Houston that had to be 'fig-leafed'. Seriously . . . how does anyone have that kind of time for such close-mindedness.

When I reading this thread, it reminded me of the former US Attorney General, John Ashcroft, that insisted on covering up partially nude statues at the Department of Justice. Does anyone else remember this? As I recall, Ascroft was the AG under Bush in the early years.

Or are you making a statement on Austin's central location of the US assuming that i use the term middle america to describe geographic location and not the inept and masses of the general populace?
