Let 'em know how you really feel but chances are Discovery fans would have to stick with O-fart for the rest of the series. Breaching contract is one thing, don't forget they also edited and shorten the original version to fit commercial.

She did bring in tons of soccer moms though.........

Discovery's "Life" outperforms "Planet Earth"

That's 1.5 million more than the opener for the much-loved 2007 miniseries "Planet Earth."

It also marks the network's most-watched premiere since "Walking with Dinosaurs" and "Raising the Mammoth" in 2000.

The 11-episode "Life" is narrated by Oprah Winfrey.

read this in the New York Times: The channel’s parent company, Discovery Communications, already has a relationship with Ms. Winfrey. It is working with her to develop a cable channel called OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.

If you have the PS3, it won't work on 1080/50 material, and here, u can find which players in US that would work on 50hz material. The bigger issue on Blu-ray compatibility is region code but the UK version is region-free.

someone I was talking to made an interesting comment about Oprah's narration. It seems that instead of reading a script written for narrating, it's more like she's reading a book.

The other thing I've noticed is that she seems to pause in awkward spots that don't flow well and disrupt the information.

I really wish that this was better because there are some really beautiful shots there.

Sadly, I have a really hard time watching it. I have decided to dvr it and watch it at a later date if at all. Her narration is painful.

@ Richard, exactly!!! like she is reading a book, but like she is reading a book to kids in grade school. You are also correct about the awkward untimely pauses. Her "narrating" is more of a distraction. No continuity, no presence, it's like she did it on a whim, just a last minute thing. No practice, no thinking about how it should be read.... They need to run the British version!!!!!
