if you cannot accept valid criticism, you also, by the same token, are not entitled to bask in the glory when you get the good reviews.

I read that in a news story about the Razzies and thought it was rather appropriate for our forum.

Are you saying that someone gets a critique and removes their photos? Nobody does that here!

I had one fool ask for a critique, get a very honest critique (with some praise) then whine like a little baby and ignore me.

I knew I was dead on with the critique.

Everyone loves to hate a critical critique from a credible critic.

And likewise, one who is unable to receive an honest critique has no right to give critiques.

Speaking of Razzies, I thought it was pretty cool that Sandra Bullock showed up to receive her award. She's a pretty cool lady.

I think that there should be an 'experience' meter required when asking for cc....

When I first started....just softball it....PLEASE??? Cause telling me I sucked...would have be staying WAY the heck away from a camera....

Now....I always let someone know if it's 'new' stuff for me....because the cc needs to be structured differently in my opinion, rather than as if someone has been doing a type of shoot for 10 years.

But you get to a point where if your TRUE goal is to get better....you've gotta be willing to put it out there for SERIOUS cc....and be thick skinned enough not to take it 'personal'...

I think it's difficult to give real critique over a forum, you don't pick up on nuances or "see" how the person getting critiqued is responding. I avoid giving true critique unless I've seen in other posts that the person can really take it, and even then I soften it more online than if I were directly speaking to that person.

Also, I'm still pretty new to photography, so I don't always feel qualified to critique a more "senior" photographer's work. I've also avoided saying anything when someone posts logos and business cards and stuff, because what I have to say is generally not nice

I have no issues when someone gives me cc.

My only complaint is when the cc is "if I had taken the photo I'd have done it this way". That's not cc but instead nothing more than personal opinion..

Exactly! Because you better be ready if you want it. I learned a lesson from someone on here.
I found out I can't handle it very well. Well, time passed and I soon realized I was in the wrong by telling that person or persons to stop Critiquing me.
I can't improve unless someone points out the errors I'm making.
Now it doesn't mean that they are always right. You do what pleases you but at the same time you also have to listen to points and suggestions.
It's all about the learning process.
