In honor of Jusselin... TPF's Biggest Loser! - 03-09-2010, 02:35 PM

Who would be game?

I know I want to get in better shape. I am sure I am not the only one. My biggest problem is motivation and accountability. And cheese.

We can start a little group on here to motivate each other and keep each other accountable to get in shape.

I will throw myself out here first.

I weigh 200lbs right now and by June 12th, I want to tip the scales at 170lbs, which is pretty close to losing the weight too fast. If I weigh more than that, but have significantly gained muscle, I will be happy.

And maybe in Jusselin's interview, he can say that he inspired a whole group of photography nerd e-friends to get in shape to help his chances of getting onto the show!

Personally, money is a motivating factor for me. I'd be willing to put money in a pool. We can decide on a work-to date. Whoever wins, gets the pool (or divide it up among the winners.) If we get enough people, maybe the winner can get a nice piece of glass.

Thomas.... absolutely love the idea!

But I will tell you that from a female perspective....there ain't no way in he double hockey stick that I want to post my weight up here.... ;-)

I think you would probably have fewer women participate if that was part of the arrangement.

I'd suggest a modification....set up two 'record keepers' - 1 male/1 female - whose gets PM's with the starting weight/current weight...and a 'total weight lost' per person could be kept 'public' for the group.

How's that sound?

I agree with that. I wasn't trying to get people to post their weight. I'm just not that secretive about mine.

All you need to do is post your lost%, since I guess that is what we are going on.

Set a goal of losing one to one and a half pounds per week. Depending on your diet and exercise plan, it's very doable. Since changing my diet and working out a minimum of four times per week, I've gone from 215 to 207 since January 15th. My goal is to get down to 20 percent body fat (I started at 33 percent). Good luck!

Yeah, I am not new to gaining and losing weight. I got up to 230 at one point, and lost it down to 165 with just the ABS Diet and more exercise.

Just been real busy and haven't taken good enough care of myself in the past year or so. Time to make the lifestyle change again, and hopefully keep the lifestyle up.

I would be in, even though I am already on Weight Watchers, I still have 30 lbs to go. I'm not as shy about my weight, so I started out at 219 and am now at 167. I want to get down to 140. I need all the motivation I can get to keep me going!

Yeah, I am so proud of you, Heather! I think this is a great idea. I had gotten up to 170 a few years ago, and got all the way down to 93 (too skinny). My ideal weight is around 105 or so. I'm totally game for this. I've gained a bunch of weight. I'm at 125 now, and I want to lose 20lbs. and tone up. We did something similar to this a long time ago with some guys at my ex's work. We each had $500 down, I won, (30lbs in 3 months), but then they said it was a joke and refused to pay up. Oh well, it was worth it at the time cuz I lost weight. It was def. a motivation! Anyway, count me in. My kids and I already started this week with a healthy eating contest. They are very excited about it. One of my sons only eats breakfast food, and I got him to him roasted chicken, carrots and brown rice last night. When he sees a prize at the end, he is def. motivated! My other son (who needs to lose weight), chose grilled chicken salad for lunch yesterday with no salad dressing. They are ages 8 and 10, so I'm pretty proud of them. Course, it all goes away next week when they go out of town with their dad to their grandma's house for spring break LOL!

i'm in. i don't know about $500 worth of skin in the game. but, it is always nice to have someone keeping you accountable.

i weighed myself this morning and i was 248. I'm targeting 230. I'm gearing up for an ascent to the top of the grand teton in july. I workout with 30-50 lbs on my back already. but if i can drop another 18-20 lbs, it will make my life 7% easier :)

Depends on what the buy-in comes to. I'm money-motivated, too, but mostly because I don't have much of it right now. And I'd need to invest in a scale!

This sounds like a pretty good idea, Thomas! I'm marking this on the calendar as your first one this year! <G>

I am kinda like you, right around the 200 mark. I believe I weighed myself at the gym yesterday at 202. I would like to get down to 180 by June/July.

It's funny, the closer I get to payday the less I eat. Maybe I should just tell them to hold my check longer? lol

I have no idea what I am right now? But just based on how my jeans fit -- I could probably stand to lose 60 lbs. I figure I am somewhere around 245 and it would be great to get back to 185.

I saw Kirstie Ally yelling at her assistants the other day and she wanted to be told her wieght in stones.

So in otherwords, I am currently over 17 stones and need to drop 4.

More coffee and less sleep should do the trick!

Ok, I've been discussing this with the wife since New Years, Its not that I need to lose weight as much as I need to be healthy. I'm 6'2 and 90 Kg with a BMI 25 which classifies as overweight. So maybe we should go by BMI its more accurate and people in the group may be more apt to post actual BMI numbers than lie about their weight.

first of all Nick I used to say that until I turned forty. Then Newtons theory of motion started. "To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction; or, the mutual actions of two bodies upon each other are always equal, and directed to contrary parts.
- Newton's Third Law of Motion, translated from the Principia's Latin "
I moved less so my waist size increased and my asz did get bigger. It's that opposite reaction that I do not like, If you gain weight or muscle mass to quickly its not good for your heart. and all the cholesterol you ingest for those calories sticks to the lining of your blood vessels. I weighted 160 4 years ago and could not eat enough to gain an ounce. This week I started Bp meds. I'm not thrilled about it and determined to get healthy and get off of my butt and move more.
