That article is a bit one sided, to get banned he must have been more argumentative and a nuissance than the article leads one to believe.

I'm pretty sure fault lies on all parties involved.

He could have been the nicest guy in the world to the coffee shop, the only people who know are the manager there and the photog

Oh, and I like the comment made somewhere about people, or person, being "creeped" out by the photog.

You know what, sometimes those guys on the corner intersections washing windshields for quarters creep me out, but I never call the cops on them.

Where the real shame is that the photog posted that he's put his camera away which is sad seeing some of his shots are quite impressive. I esp like the one of the fellow with the long beard.

I'm not saying the action of calling the cops on him was wholly justified or anything, I just think there's something else going if he managed to get BANNED completely from those shops.

It's important to be mindful of who and what we're photographing so someone doesn't have a "reason" to do these kind of actions and you can be justified in retaliating through legal means if it goes too far.

As others have said, it sucks that we only have 1/2 the story.

Yeah, like if you dig deeper, you find reports that it isn't necessarily all or any number of shops that got him banned. It only takes one. Apparently. Again, we're going by info about this found on the internet, so take that into consideration too.

So he was off the property using a telephoto for that one photo where the woman was taking a smoke. Now, she asked that her photo not be taken and deleted, shouldnt this have been honored?

Now that it's been posted, should a model release form have been signed for use? It's not like she couldnt have been identified.

well, if you check out his flickr stream and some of his comments, you kinda get the feeling he's a confrontational douchebag

You have to ask to take my picture! on Flickr

He had a lot to say. He caught me after I took the first shot and immediately began lecturing. So, I held the camera at chest level and kept firing away. Funny thing is, he couldn't hear my mirror slapping over his own, jeering voice, so, I had a choice pictures to choose from.
he's well within his rights to take photos in public, and calling the cops and having him banned is ridiculous. However, this guy is clearly being a prick while shooting street, and whether it's legal or not, he's rude. kinda helps explain the other half of the story
