A friend of mine, a really nice guy, has been single waaay too long. He's smart, and funny, and nice-looking. (I have a few pics here.) He's a musician, and he's a Mensan. He's dated more people than I've met, I think, and he's been in love a few times, but it never quite worked out. He's pretty much ready to give up on the whole dating thing, and I told him not to throw in the towel yet. I'm SURE there's someone out there for him, and I want to help him find her!!

A couple of years ago, he wrote up a description of what he's looking for, because some friends asked him to (if we know what he wants, we can help him find it, right?), and he said everything he wrote in it is still true, so I'm going to post it here, on the off-chance that one of you knows someone who fits this description.

(NOTE: It may sound overly picky/particular, but he was asked what his ideal woman would look like, so that's what he wrote....)

If you know someone who might be what he's looking for, who might be interested in him as well, please, please let me know!

Quote:
I've dated too much for my own good. This is what works. I don't actually expect to ever find this woman again, but I know she exists. I've met someone that fits this list 5 times in my life. 3 are now married, 1 moved to Myanmar recently, and 1 - well - I'll go into that story offline if I must. Also I'm not asking anyone to either convince me that this is not good for me, or asking anyone to set me up. I'm posting this because I was asked. There you go.

If I were going to Frankenstein a woman together that would be perfect for me, this is what she would HAVE to have.

- She has to be smart. You all understand what that means, so we'll move along.
- She needs to be outgoing and charismatic, or she'll drown in my world. Believe me, I've gone out with introverts before, and it ends up in resentment, drama and anger after 4 months or less every time.
- She really should be a Christian, non-fundamentalist
- She can't be a single mother. I think I might want kids one day, but I'm not looking for a family, just add water.
- Roughly my age. I've dated 3 years older than me and 6 years younger than me with no problems. That seems to be a good age range. So today that means 29-38.
- In shape. That's not a "secret code" for "supermodel figure." It means that I work out 3-5 times a week, am active and fairly healthy, and like doing active things with other people. I want her to want to take care of herself too, and to be willing to do some (not all) of the physical stuff with me.
- College degrees required. I'm a snob this way, and I know it, but the degree is REALLY important to me. It means you're not an idiot, you probably have something you like to learn about, have some way that you're competent, and you can finish things. I'm the least educated member of my immediate family with 2 Bachelor's degrees. Education just means too much to me to give up here.

Nice to haves:
- Non-smoker. I'm allergic to tobacco. It causes problems.
- Musical. I have to work hard to communicate with non-musicians a lot of the time. It drives me, and I hate sounding condescending... but I accidentally do. I can deal, but if she's musical that's easier.
- At least 5'4". I've gone out with shorter. I can deal, but the taller the better, up to 6'.
- Democrat would be nice. It means we're coming from the same place politically, which reduces the number of stupid arguments.
- Moderate drinker. I'm not into alcoholics, but I've got a sister that is a tee-totaler who's married to a moderate drinker like me. Watching that dynamic is annoying.
Thanks for looking!

He sounds a lot like me, the poor man. He's doomed.

I do find it odd that he put, "non-smoker" under the "Nice to have" category, when he says he is allergic to tobacco. I'm not allergic to tobacco, but I find cigarette smoke extremely irritating and offensive, so I would say this is in the "Essential" column.

Wait! I didn't see anything about a nude portfolio. You sure he is a lot like you?

Ah, but, see; I didn't create a public nude portfolio until I was 42 or so. When I was his age, all of my nude posing was still private.

It sounds like he is looking for my wife.

Sorry, she's taken.

I found this odd as well.

Non-smoker has always been on the must-have list for me.

Ha!!! I met him the other week, during a shoot. He was very nice to talk to, man to man... but, I could never see myself wanting to date him as a girl. I think it is the Mensa-level intelligence, but it made him come off as a bit pretentious. He was pretty cool to hang out with as another guy, and maybe I am wrong about what girls like and don't like.

Why would I be talking about imagebuffet?!? He doesn't seem like mensa material to me. I thought we were talking about Pat? I was.

LOL

I was asking because everyone else was talking about him, and I just wanted to be sure before I responded. :)

I know what you mean, but I think he's different, one on one....

Probably totally wrong -- as he was asked to provide the list -- but from the description it truly sounds very pretentious. Maybe it's the mensan part, or the description of the tee-totaller, or the degree required, or the in shape part...

No actually it's all of them combined.

He sounds like he knows what he wants and has friends helping him find it. I'm sure they are out there. Good luck.

I only meet about half of his list.

(I'm a short, introverted, conservative non-Christian with only an Associates degree. I'm also too old by two years.)
