My friend let me borrow her 5DMkII.... - 03-18-2010, 03:33 PM

I borrowed the camera from my friend about 3 weeks ago for a wedding shoot (back story on the camera, her dad bought it for her because she told him she was interested in photography, ugh ), when she gave it to me she told me she lost the charger and couldn't find it. Anywho I shot with it and the battery died and it's been sitting in my room and I'm really hoping she realizes that she hates photography and wants me to keep it as a sign of our eternal friendship. Bleh just wanted to vent that I've had this pristine Mark II sitting in my room and I can't even play with it and the owner doesn't appreciate it!

A friend of mine bought a D80 to get into photography. His grandma thought he was great, and she asked how she could help him do it better.

He came home with a D3, 14-24, 24-70 and 70-200 VR.

as an eternal sign of your friendship to her (ie. be able to make the case later when she realizes that she doesn't like photography) you could go buy her a charger...

Is she looking to adopt new grandchildren?

Heh, I forgot to mention that she told me when she gave it to me that she was sorry it didn't have a flash on it, she's not sure why her dad didn't check that first...

Perhaps you could buy her a nice little P&S with a built in flash so you can trade her something she can just slip in her purse......Ben

Haha - I remember a friend of ours called to get a camera recommendation for his college freshman daughter 3 years ago - she wanted to "learn" photography and had asked him for a 5D for Christmas. Given that he was already paying for private school tuition to begin with, he was trying to resist given the price tag on them, but she was just insisting that was what she wanted. I asked him if she knew it didn't have a flash on it? Why no, she did not, and didn't have a clue what she would do with a camera without one, so she happily settled for something else in the lineup that was probably a much better fit for her to learn on anyway. I figure he still owes me for that "save."

If that man doesn't visit his grand mama at LEAST once a week, he is a cad.
