Jeeze now it is two VP's in a row making the same mistake though today's by Biden was picked up by a mike that was not real close to him.

This ain't trying to be political since both parties did it, Cheney did it about the NY Times reporter a few years back, he assumed that a mike by him and the President wasn't hot and it grabbed his comment, just to tell people that if your in a public place assume all MICROPHONES ARE HOT AT ALL TIMES and if you drop an f-bomb don't say it loudly to who-ever you say it too.

Heck we all have heard about LBJ and his mouth to his staff and friends but you don't hear it on tape, we are all human but the press loves to jump on this stuff like a hungry dog.

That is Media Relations 101 ... always assume any camera pointed at you is broadcasting live, every microphone is on and your mom/grandmother is listening to everything you say.

One of my recent former jobs was to work the control room for a city's council meetings. Unbelievable what I heard people say around open mics. The feed wasn't going out, but it could've been.

With the proliferation of video-capturing cell phones (not to mention the cameras that have been around for years), Big Brother might not be watching but his little brothers are everywhere. Doesn't have to be a big event to get yourself in trouble. And it goes straight to youtube.
