I'm seeing a lot of '365' projects lately. I dont know if its just because I'm cruising Twitter and getting exposed to so many more photographers lately, or if they are all of a sudden popular, but they are everywhere.
Have you done one? Was it 'educational' for you?
Did you actually shoot/edit a pic per day, or did you shoot a weeks worth over the weekend?
What are the advantages of doing a project like this?

I started one but fell mid February. I found I started shooting anything to get my day in especially since I live rural and wasn't always leaving my place. I also got busier at work.

Man I thought you would have had more response by now. Someone posted a thread a while back about this project and several photogs responded. Sounds like a fun nice way to "pay it forward"

Have you done one? I have one on FB
Was it 'educational' for you? Yes it is, this way you get your BLOOD, HEART and BRAIN pumping!
Did you actually shoot/edit a pic per day, or did you shoot a weeks worth over the weekend? Most of them yes, but it took a week or two to upload them! Life is busy with kids!
What are the advantages of doing a project like this? It helps you think and learn more about photography and life....
Why do you ask, if you don't mind me asking?
later.....

I tried a one month deal, couldn't even finish that.
Wound up shooting junk just to fill quota and serious lack of imagination did not help.

I was doing one, but also quit in February. Instead of instilling new efforts and ideas in me, I found it was stifling me.
I do have 2 other projects though still ongoing that I started at the beginning of the year:
A) 52 Hour Project: Doing 1 continuous hour of photo related "expression" per week, whether it be a class, meetup, photowalk, experiment, or whatever.
B) 2010 in 2010 Project: Putting together 2,010 photos I am willing to share this year (i.e. no shots from event gigs I land, or catalog shoots, but instead shots from experiments, fun, etc that are worth keeping and displaying).

I'm doing one this year. I was going to have a theme, but my husband talked me out of it. I take a picture every day. It's not always a grand picture and in fact this past week was a complete disaster of un-inspiration. But I've learned. I did one in 2007, though didn't finish it. I hope to complete this one. It is interesting to go back and see how you've improved. It also gets you looking around a lot because you know you've got to take that picture today and what could you possibly take one of today.

I started the 365 PAD a bit ago...it's hard! You can see what I've done here...please feel free to leave a comment, be it good or downright horrible. pad Photo Gallery by momad30044 at pbase.com We've nothing blooming yet so it's been mostly indoors stuff. I'm quickly running out of ideas and spent several hours today looking online for ideas.

I'm currently doing a 365 project (started in september). I've cheated a couple of times, but have kept up with it and it makes me think hard sometimes (like right now) what I should take a picture of if I haven't really been out. It should be a bit easier going into the summer since I'll get out more, but I think it's a fun challenge to try to come up with a "good" photo each day. I don't always succeed, but I do try. I'm also part of a flickr group which has helped my "stick-to-it-ness".
Once you run out of your "normal" subjects it really forces your brain to try and find other interesting photographs. Whether it be how light reflects from the mirror in your bathroom, the interesting texture of that lamp, or the cool composition those pens laying on your desk make.

I tried it. Couldn't keep up with it. I found it made me not like picking up my camera. I felt like "h--, I have to take another photo today". I don't like feeling that I HAVE to take a photo. BUT what does work for me is to pick a subject, and then say I have to "Get it" in 5 shots or less. I try to do this 3 times a week. I feel much more challenged to get it right. I keep a jar with subject ideas in it and just pull one out when I am ready to shoot. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
