May be heading up that way in a couple days and if something good is in the area may try to get there early to shoot it.. (talking about 1-2 hours time available in the area). | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

I just passed thru there the other day, and have been trying to think of something...
Only thing that comes to mind is hwy 66 on North east side of town is part of the old RT 66, I was just on it and think there were some old buildings along there but thats been two weeks and 5000 miles ago.

I moved to Claremore a few months ago about thirty miles north of Tulsa and there's quite a few things in the area to shoot. If you're interested in the Praying Hands at ORU, it's pretty cool to see. The whole route 66 is awesome too, around Foyil area there's a really cool totem pole... what interests do you have?

You could shoot my in-laws, but that wouldn't make my wife happy.
Tulsa is just a big, mostly flat Oklahoma city. The praying hands noted above are cool, but moreso at night. If you can find the section of 66 that still has some neon and cool old buildings, that's worth it (but good luck unless you know the town pretty well).

While not "mountainous", Tulsa certainly isn't "mostly flat." That would be Oklahoma City. - The praying hands are just north of 81st and Lewis on the campus of Oral Roberts University; which is itself an interesting architectural study.
- There are some nice vintage art deco buildings downtown, one church is the trademark AD building but I can't remember the name right off hand.
- The Arkansas River also runs through town and can provide some nice reflections of the (small) downtown area.
- Philbrook museum is the original home of Mr. Phillips (as in Phillips 66) in a nice older part of town (lots of oil money built lots really nice homes in Tulsa.)
Like any town, there are hidden treasures all over but those are a few high points. Beyond that, it pretty much looks like any other medium size city these days.
However - and this is most important part of your trip - you must eat a hamburger at Harden's Hamburgers !!!

As a native Virginian, where nothing is flat, Tulsa is flat to me. There are a few hills and gullies, etc., and not only in the population's collective IQ. (kidding!)

Well the trip to Tulsa is off but nice to know what is around there. (as to the Route 66 shots I just was on or around about 500 miles of 66 so saw plenty of old motels and dives a couple weeks back).
