If you watch this, make sure you wear headphones or let the audio play so you can hear the car's engine. Dailymotion - Claude Lelouch : Ferrari @ 140mph through Paris - une vidéo Auto et Moto
----
On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris. The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine, through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.
No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.
The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets.

I don't believe it. April Fools jokes are usually limited to our continent. | | | |

Actually this isn't a April's fools day video, this is more popularly called Rendezvous, one of my favorites. The initial description posted here accurate, except later analysis shows the car never exceeding 140kmps (86mph). but even then, driving like this through populous inner city roads is insane (specially for back in the day). The guy who drove us from the airport to our hotel by the Louvre was doing 70MPH+ in those streets, in a van. We feared for our lives more than once on that trip, narrowly missing small cars and large tour buses in the same intersection. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
