FYI:
One of two old steam engines that Union Pacific has kept running will be stopping in Houston on Sunday Monday Tuesday on its way down to Harlingen. It will return through Houston next weekend but their wont be any display. Picture is of the engine in Nebraska on its way south a day ago.
This engine is the real deal a northern, 4-8-4 built in 1944 and never really out of service. It was built for fast passenger service and can easily top 100 mph yet weighs nearly 500 tons! This class of engines were right at the top, powerful, efficient ( for steam!) and maintainable. There were some that were more technically evolved but none that ran the mileage and service these engines did.

There is a link on that page that goes to a GPS on the train current location. I think that they will be coming into Houston on the tracks along Hempstead highway into the Amtrak Station which is off Washington near the Post Office.
Last time they had one of the engines in Houston was 2003.
