TWC DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Broadband to 50Mbps, who got it? - 04-08-2010, 10:10 AM

I'm considering upgrade to the new Wideband service from TWC but it's $40 more :( The service is now available to selected Dallas area, i believe. Anyone has it? How you like it? What's the actual speed you're getting?

Thanks

Keep in mind that when they say "up to" any number, they do not mean that you will consistently get those speeds.

Pipes vary for everything... Typically the pipe to that web page you're trying to look at will be slower than your connection if its not a large business... And by large i mean like Microsoft, Apple, Google (just not the pages you search for)

Most international pages/servers will still be "slow".

I had 200mbs Fibre out of my house for years.....You may be fast be the slowest server dictates how fast you go. Very few servers support over 1.5mbs. MS and Adobe come to mind.

Now I have 15/5 and I still get the same speed as before at a lot less.

My bad, I should have stated I'm knowledgeable in this area, hence the questions.

"Anyone has it? How you like it? What's the actual speed you're getting?" and not Network 101 on do i need 50Mbps or 6.25 MB/sec broadband service.

Thanks.

My current speed is saturated at ~1.8MB/s on a good day, which i pay $10 more per month for an upgrade. Come to think of that, I could cancel the $10 deal and get the new wide-band service instead. Well, that sounds really stupid, but the whole deal is only $30 more now!
