Now, we need to find an A/C person that won't screw us over. Any suggestions?

A/C recommendations? I'd go with 120 volts... Anyone? Anyone? Waka-waka-waka!

I don't have any names for you, sorry!

Swanson Heating and Air - Rowlett, TX

Years ago, after others tried to sell us an entire system, a neighbor recommended Greg Swanson. Instead of a new system he replaced the coil. Years later we finally had to replace the outside compressor. He recommended Goodman (out of Houston) as a lower price alternative to the Trane. So far, no complaints on him or the 2 y.o. Goodman unit.

What is DWB? I don't want to name drop an acronym and find out it stands for something like Dirty White Bastards, or worse...

Please make sure whatever you buy will pass new D.O.E. guidelines because there is a possibility you wont be able to sell your house in the future if any applience doe's not pass inspection.

And he has his own WB move... we call it the "Bill-doh" pronounced "Bill Doe".

Hanky, I'm looking to replace my HVAC unit with a newer model, not an older one.

I've been waiting for that day for the last 4 years. 5 years ago, when we bought the house, we knew the A/C wouldn't have much time left on earth. It was built in 1989 and was already limping along. We had an A/C guy do a quick fix (top off the freon, clean the coils and install a capacitor to help get the motor running on start-up). Figured that would buy us one more year. We've done better than that original estimation, but I know we are on borrowed time. Now that we got in on the rebate, we are definitely ready to pull the trigger!

A/C equipment is just like camera equipment, you get what you pay for in many instances. There are contractor grade and top line grade equipment. It can make a difference.
