that 2 year costco membership is a damn good deal compared to the monthly fee they have for an all club membership. When I was getting my membership it was $39.95 per month, plus around $150 initial/setup fees. Of course they count on people quitting after a couple of months so they keep that setup fee.
At that time (6 years ago or so) They had a hidden plan where for around $900 up front, I'd get a "buy one year, get two free" deal and the best part was i'd renew at $22 a year! So if someone quits after getting that plan, they're out a lot of money but i've got every penny's worth out of it so far...hell, when I lived in the suburbs, i'd go there to shower and change after work before going to school even. I'm sure there is a math formula to describe it better, but after 6 years it seems that I've paid $14 a month so far...Still not as good as the costco deal however unless they limit you to one 2 year membership per person.
FYI, i think they still have a variation of that buy 1 year get 2 free thing which is around $600 but the annual renewal is around a $100.
Last, having the ability to go to any gym is very important. If you move to another part of town or work in another part of town away from the gym, you'd be far less motivated to go than if the gym was close by. |
