With all of this news of earth quakes lately, I decided to do a little comparison of how many more major eathquakes that we have had this year vs other years, and wondering why we have had "so many more"

Fact is -- not any more 6.0 and up this year than any of the past years. Had a major 8+ in Chile, which apparently there is an average of ~1 a year.
The big one in Haiti only measured in the 7 range.
Strangely enough, the yearly average for magnitude 6 and above is one every 2.63 days.
I guess the media is having a slow year and needed something sensational to talk about while Tiger was in rehab.
