Doolittle Raid - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Only four left who can attend. When there are only two, they will toast using a bottle of 1896 Cognac. I have been very piveledged to meet Colonel Richard Cole.

Cool. All of them must have had balls of steel.

Of course the headline today would read, "Army Air Corps indiscriminately bombs Japanese civilians. Hundreds of innocent children killed."

And Robert Gray, one of Doolittle's pilots, was from Killeen.

I read "30 Seconds Over Tokyo" when I was about 10, and it made a huge impression on me. These guys have been my heros ever since.

It's people with the courage to do what's required that make America great.

Thanks for posting the reminder of this daring and historic raid.

A little late, I know. But what the heck. A B-25 shot from an airshow I attend a while back.

One of those was flown off the USS Lexington in Corpus for the movie Pearl Harbor.
I'll bet 900 ft of flight deck looked really short from the cockpit, but then the Doolittle raiders had about half of that.

Was Colonel Cole Doolittle's co-pilot? I met and had lunch with his co-pilot at a gun show in Houston a couple of years ago, but I can't remember his name.
