It's called Wall Street.

Listening to some of the details of the Goldman Sachs fallout is really eye opening as to how wild and crazy this whole thing is.

When the average guy buys stock (gambles) you have no idea what's influencing the market or the stock that you are buying.

Jeeze the big boys have been doing this in the sandpile for 100+ years, just another version now, and on occasion they let the pre-K kids into the sandbox so they can go and kick your sandcastles down (which is why you should bury a steel box inside the castle-at least they get a stubbed toe). Thinking that Uncle Sam and his minions can keep an eye on this 24/7 and not have a favorite or two is just having blinders on (trying to keep politics out of this) since this has gone on no matter whose in the big daddy chair at the moment. Yeah sometimes the teachers will make them set in the corner with a time out or will make them pay a small fine but in the long run that just gives them time to think of something new.

I am really surprised that there has been no restrictions on oil and gas futures contracts and trading of those after the last run on the price of oil. Price is driven by incremental demand and these futures contracts in many cases give a false indication of the demand for the product since they don't take delivery on most of the contracts that are written.

(the Hunts, a texas dynasty, tried to play with silver a couple decades back and it went sour on them since it was just a small group with limited funds who ran it past $50 an oz at the time)
