I want to borrow a wide angle - 04-20-2010, 10:43 AM

My parents need interior pics of their limousine buses and my widest lens is 50mm. Would anyone be interested in trading with me for a few days? I would like to use a 24-70 or 24-105. I have a 70-200 2.8 or Sigma 50mm 1.4 to swap.

24mm isn't really all that wide, especially on a crop body, for vehicle interiors. Of course if you don't mind stitching, then it might work well enough. OTOH, if it was me, I'd be looking for a much wider lens to use. YMMV

Man, if you were closer I wouldn't mind swapping my 24-105 or sigma 20 for you Sigma 50 for a couple of days. I don't think it's worth the hassle of shipping though, good luck, Lonnie.

I will be using a full frame and they are buses so I do have some room to back up. I mostly shoot at 700mm so 24mm seems super wide to me. I guess a 17-40 could also work?

Yeah local would be better! I would be scared to ship because of all the banging and dropping if boxes. I figure someone could find good use in trying out a 70-200 2.8.

It's not like I'm a world class authority on bus interiors, but they do present a fairly cramped space. The 17-40 would work way better, IMO. When you get that wide, every step, even an extra mm, shows in the image.

Yeah, 24mm is pretty wide on full-frame, but I can see a significant difference between 20mm and 24mm. 4mm is a huge difference on the wide end.

There's always lighttec rentals in houston.

Or you could buy one with your credit card, use it for the weekend, and then take it back.
