I'm only really holding off because I just recently installed Xubuntu Karmic and I don't want to do the upgrade install (rather do it on a freshly formatted partition).

I'm sure the folks over at the Ubuntu forums will convince me to make the move sooner rather than later. At least, for now, I have the excuse of only being on dial-up.

Ive been using the release candidate for a while now. Best version yet, without a doubt. Im currently dual booting this and windows xp and Im really enjoying it. Have to keep xp around for photoshop, but im slowly getting acclimated to DigiKAM.

I already had a current project rolling in photoshop, but maybe once im done with this project, ill do my next one in DigiKAM in Lucid Lynx.

The plan is to completely convert my home use to linux.

Still have to use windows at work though :(

Hmmm...I need something for the old Toshiba....

If I could ever get the Broadcom wifi in this one to cooperate, I'd probably use Windows a lot less.

(It will sort of work, but for some reason after every boot I end up having to do a iwconfig key [2] ap any <something else, can't remember at the moment> and they all have to be done in one command. Took me forever to figure that trick out, since three separate iwconfigs won't do it.)

I've been a KDE user for a while, so I don't have the same themes as y'all.

Anyone know how good the netbook remix is?

I haven't played with any Linux distros since Unbuntu was fairly new. I now have an extra HDD slot in the Mac Pro. Maybe I should toss a spare drive in it and give it a boot camp install. I should keep up with what's new on that side of the world, but I would certainly never use it for a desktop. I have too many applications I rely on for workflow on OS X.

Thanks for the heads up...

If Adobe built CS5 for Linux, it would be one heck of a tough toss-up between OSX and Linux, for me. It really has gotten that good.

Personally...I love DigiKam. I think its a great alternative to lightroom and the price is right as well. (free, as in beer)

PEBCAK

Although I totally agree with you about digiKam. I really like it. I rarely open GIMP anymore.

Isnt it a great program? Im amazed more people dont use it!

Ive tried all the linux-based photo editing programs, gimp, Bibble Pro, and DigiKam is by and far the best out there.

It literally is a free Lightroom, and ive never thrown a RAW file at it it couldn't handle.
