Thank you, Tommy. Prayers are always welcome because this is definitely in God's hands.

Debbi, you and your family are in our prayers. I went thru this with my dad when I was 20 and with my mom when I was 50 I'd like to say it gets easier but... anyway hang in there we here for you.

Debbi, my heart breaks for you as I went through this in September with my dad. He was on hospice care for six weeks. They were great. I loved our nurses, I still talk to them, our social worker was great, an absolute doll. Everyone we came in contact with was fantastic, and made the transition with us every step, explaining everything as we went through it.

If you want any information on doctors we used, hospice program we used or anything feel free to ask or pm.

I know he's in a much better place, but it doesn't lessen my heart ache at times.

Many prayers sent your way.

You, your father and the rest of your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I dread the day I have to deal with what you are dealing with now. May He comfort and guide you.

Hospice will help everyone through this process. It is a good thing.
Get them involved as soon as you can.

We will keep you in our thoughts.

You aren't alone. You have your family and you have your TPF family. We may not be there, but we do have a huge collection of ears!

I'm sure many of us have wanted to post concerning personal things going on in our lives but have deleted them or just never wrote them.

I've been accused of being cold and callous, perhaps having to deal with it more than I want and it's my way of getting through it, but have learned over the years...

everyone has their own way of dealing with death...they will not necessarially act like or seemingly feel like you do - you may want to scream why? - the brother, cold and callous may be the way he needs to be to get through it...hubby, he's there for you - you are his number one concern no matter what...

scared is normal, not wrong...
hospice is a good thing...
when he's ready, he'll let go...
your're never ready to let them go...
you never get over it, just find a way to get through it...

a friend once told me that the first thing he did was to put his grandmother's death date in his genealogy program and it helped...since then I have done it a half dozen times...it helped.

perhaps I should just say, my prayers are with you but hope somehow this helps...
just remember, we're here...don't hesitate to write it down...

patrick.

Debbi
You know how I feel but I want to echo the thoughts of TPF.
We can't feel your pain, but we can do our best to help you through it.
TPF is a family. We bitch and complain and curse at each other sometimes, and we shout the praises of those we like and ignore those we don't like. Just like a family.
I too have posted a message and then deleted it lately.
I have learned that it helps to talk to your friends. We are here to listen
and if we have advice we'll offer it. If not, we are still good listeners.
I'm not much for prayers, but lately I've found that thinking positively works best. I'll be thinking positively about you and your family.
Keep us informed. TT

Debbi, thanks for sharing your feelings. I can relate to them as my father died of cancer in 2002 and I only had one day to fly back home to see him before he lost consciousness. Something that helped me enormously deal with his inevitable death was reading "On Death and Dying" on the plane back to the old country. It helped me deal with the situation much better than I would have had I not read it.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

I haven't been one that was much for prayer over the last few years, but I'm starting to believe that "if God brings you TO it, he'll help you THROUGH it." And Tom is right, we bitch, and curse, and bicker... but to some degree we are all friends and family. When you need to talk, talk. We might not always respond, but we always listen, and sometimes that's the best medicine. Prayers, and thoughts are with you and your family.
