What one book? - 05-03-2010, 10:52 AM

As portrait photographers looking back, what one book would you say is the best book to start learning about portrait photography. I got a 50.00 gift card from my dad for my birthday and I want to use it to purchase a book that will help me the most in this area of photography.

There are many.

I like 'The Art of People Photography' by Bambi Cantrell.

Good luck.

I have a bunch of stuff form Amherst Media. They are pretty straight forward. There is a pocket guide to posing (seniors?) that has a lot of fast grabs in there. It also depends on what you are posing. We do a lot of brides and boudoir. Most of my poses are inspired from old paintings and magazines. I was a painter in another life...then I found out a camera could feed me better. :D
