The behavior engineering of video games.

Guilt and embarassment were actually discussed as motivating factors to keep people playing. The major example were social games like Farmville.

Yep.

Brad goes through times when he gets sick of Wow.... then he picked up Diablo 2.... then got bored with it....

But he's been playing for about 5 years now... and has THOUSANDS of hours invested in it.... it completely boggles my mind... but he enjoys it... so it's cool.

I grew up with video games, and I still play something almost every day.

The same way people find enough time and money to support their crack, heroine, gambling, sex, alcohol, cigarette and/or shopping addictions.

I half mentioned this article to my husband.... he's long played video games during his down time... and some time the 'down time' has been excessive.... lol... but he told me to send him the link, so I did... and had an amazing conversation about it today... he said he hadn't ever thought of the way this is designed... gave him some food for thought.... he'd finish reading the article after he got his alt leveled another 20 levels... ;-)
