Question Hotels - College Station? - 05-10-2010, 11:07 AM

Is it just me or are hotels in College Station unbelievably expensive? I've got an engagement session down there this weekend and was considering getting a hotel on Friday night... but $200 for a 1-star hotel is just stupid.

Plenty of places within 30-40 miles that run a lot less than that.

Understandable.

When I used to go out to TWS for race events (my racing not watching) hotels were a bit on the pricey side.

Prices always go to full rack rate during busy times like home football games and graduation.

It is graduation weekend...it is going to be intolerable down here. They make the prices 4x higher on hotels. Driving anywhere will take 30min to go 3-4 miles (no joke). Restaurants are more packed then usual. And if you are going to do stuff on campus, you may need an assistant to just keep people out of your shots. Sorry to sound so negative, but the towns population literally will double this weekend.

Hope you are able to find a hotel as well, people will book them 6+months out. I know there are some hotels in Navasota, which is only 15 miles down Hwy 6. You may have some luck there.

Wil - you might try priceline - I use it faithfully and stay 3star and up for around $50 dollars. Feel free to pm me if you want insider info on how to know what to bid, etc.

Try Hearne... brand new hotel there where my friends stayed for fairly cheap. 'Bout 25 minutes north of CS.

Thanks everyone! I was off by a weekend... I'm not going there until the weekend of the 22nd. Seems A LOT cheaper on that weekend for some reason.

I guess it does have to do with graduation... good thing I was wrong about the date... I don't have to be there for another week so that'll save me $150.
