hotel stay in Austin - 05-10-2010, 05:03 PM

Anyone know of any inexpensive places to stay in Austin -- preferrably in the 70-80 range that are at a minimum safe and clean.

One night only -- and FWIW check in on 14 (Fri) and out on Saturday.

Right now it looks like the doubletree is winning at 129

I am coming in for the State Trackmeet, so the closer to UT the better

thanks for the tip -- checked it -- and they want the same for it as the doubletree across the interstate from campus

It may end up being cheaper to get a place close and not have to worry about parking by walking to the stadium

Check redroof.com, we always saw either $39 or $49 on the signs in North Austin and Round Rock.

Kent - check this page out:

Texas - Austin - USA Hotels - BiddingForTravel.com - Message Board Yuku

That'll give you an idea of what the prices are through priceline for a stay (you want #8 on the map when you look on Priceline - do 'Name your own price'). PM me if you've got questions... I've been using PL for 5+ years now... and it's saved us thousands at this point.... Just stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Dallas for Texas School for $51/night. Carr6 (Renae) was my room mate - and I think she'll tell you it was nice nice NICE... ;-)

thank you -- if I remember correctly -- the redroof wasn't awful looking the last time I was through there. Looking online -- they have several rooms available at 47 and 48 dollars which means I can even go down early...

Any others?

ok -- I think I like price line -- big thank you to David for that suggestion. I put in $55 for central Austin, and got a room for 2 nights at the Crowne Plaza Austin North Central, at the intersection of 35 and 290. Not too far away from the stadium, and I think it will be a bit better room than the Red Roof that I was considering.

Good stuff! Thanks guys!
