League City man charged after taking photographs of girls' soccer team at park | abc13.com

Quote:
WEBSTER, TX (KTRK) -- A League City man is under arrest after he reportedly took pictures of girls playing soccer at a park in Webster.

According to Webster police, Paul Guy Clark Jr., 65, posted a $2,000 bond Thursday on a felony charge of improper photography. On Wednesday Clark reportedly photographed girls, ages 12 to 17, at a Webster park in the 17100 block of North Texas Avenue.

Parents of the girls alerted Webster police that a man had been taking pictures. One witness told police he'd seen this man taking photos of girls playing at parks on many occasions.

Webster police arrested Clark at 7:15pm Wednesday. Clark is accused of photographing the children without consent with the intent to arouse and gratify a sexual desire.

Police seized computer equipment from Clark's car, including a digital camera, memory cards, an iPod, USB flash drives, a computer and a collection of pornographic materials. The evidence was submitted to the district attorney's office.

Wasn't there another arrest 6 or so months ago in the same town? I remember reading about on her a while ago. Either that or I am having a de'ja vu moment.

How can anyone tell that when a photographer is taking a picture out in public that it is meant for intent to arouse?

Is there some phermone that is given off that only cops can detect??

Possessing pornographic materials AND taking pictures of nothing but pubescent and adolescent girls on several occasions, without consent of the parents, doesn't look good. If he isn't found guilty of anything illegal, he might be guilty of at least stupidity.

There is a trick to street photography. You have to make yourself part of the environment. You use a small camera with a small lens. You get up close, and let people get comfortable with you.

When you start using a 300mm 2.8 to shoot pictures of girls your just being creepy.

I'm glad I got out of the youth sports business when I did. This is getting out of hand. It will be impossible for anyone to conduct business in this kind of atmosphere without being harrassed.

I certainly don't approve of the sleaseballs that do this for personal gratification but everyone, regardless of their intent, are going to be scrutinized and treated like criminals.

I actually used a 300 f/2.8 L IS, 70 -200 f/2.8L IS, and 600 f/4L IS to shoot girls playing soccer and there was nothing creepy about it. I made a very good living doing it for many years including videos for them to use for college recruitment.

Its your "creepy" comment that fuels this kind of attitude.

I'm sure he wasn't referring to legitimate kids' sports photographers. That's a whole different situation because at least some parents knew who you were, why you were there, and you handled it professionally. It's the "creepiness" of strangers doing this that fuels the attitude in my opinion.

Much appreciated.

I saw it on the news, went and searched their site and the link I posted was the first one to come up.

I guess when the photographer is only taking pictures of body parts (according to the news article) and not the whole person.
