Bass fishing Lake Belton - 05-19-2010, 09:03 AM

Hi,
I am going to go and try lake belton for the first time and i was wondering if any of you could help me out on what to use and where to fish? you don't have to give me your honey hole just what kind of structures, points, and what ever else you would recommend.
Thanks for the help

Non-weighted, plastic worm worked very slowly around brush or stickups. Oh, and a tip from an old-timer, make sure you're holding your mouth the right way. BTW, we expect to see pics. :)

If the water is clear, I would Carolina rig a glow trues worm. If the water is off color, black or root beer brown.

A brass bullet weight and a glass bead for a clicking noise works well.

edit: 24" leader. :D

I'd try the northern reaches of the lake, Owl Creek Park or the Leon River estuary. There are boat ramps at both Owl Creek Park and White Flint Park. Owl Creek is the more secluded and there's a lot of deadfall around there, plus a small branch of the Leon empties in to the lake just north of the park. I hear the fishing along the Leon is not bad at all, but I've never done it, so can't say from experience. It's been a long long time since I've fished at Owl Creek, too (used to live there, but that was many moons ago, 13 or 14 years worth!) so it may have changed quite a bit since then. The water is bottle green in the northern areas, "root beer brown" (and a little green, too, really) on the southern end of the Lake and the Leon River.
