I like the Focus Dailies because they are so thin and comfortable. No cleaning just put a new pair in everyday and you’re good to go. Another plus, if you’re out and about and your eyes get irritated just take them out and toss them. They’re a little more expensive but totally worth it. I get mine from 800-contacts for a good price.

I wear a pair that are supposed to be used for a month then throw out. Don't remember the brand as I get them from my eye doc. I only wear mine during certain activities though (golf, fishing, photo etc.) since I have a skin tag on my right eyelid that makes them uncomfortable for long term wear though.
I wonder if a pair of what Rene was talking about might work better. It'd be great if they came in a bifocal also.

I just started wearing contacts after about a 10 year layoff from them.
I have the 30 day ones (don't remember the brand), but my allergies have been drying my eyes out so I haven't worn them in a couple days.

I pick up my daily wear samples this weekend, I have been trying out the two week one this week. Did you recall if your eyes "learned" to produce more tears to keep the contacts moist after you had been wearing them for a few weeks?

I used to wear the 30 days ones, but they were royally effing up my eyes. I stopped wearing contacts for 6 months and my vision went from -3.0 in each eye to -2.25 in each eye.
I now only wear daily disposables. And I only wear those 4-5 days a week. My eyes are MUCH healthier now. I kinda can't eff around with my vision, being a photographer and all. I'm happy to pay a premium for these contacts.

Rob, I think most new contact wearers experience dry eyes. Your doctor should have given you drops to help with that. I’d call them and ask them to recommend some you can buy at a pharmacy. After a while the problem will go away for the most part.
Jeff, my allergies have my eyes going nuts lately too. I got some Visine-A eye allergy relief drops that have really helped. I haven’t used the drops with my contacts tho so not sure if you can (nothing on the bottle mentions contacts).

IIRC there wasnt that big of a price difference between the two weeks and the dallies. I dont think I will be able to wear them at work sitting in front of a computer all day, although I am trying, but I want these for all other activities such as shooting pictures,

Thanks Rene, he did. I also bought a bottle. I was just wondering if the need for drops get less as time goes on. I am using "Blink Tears" by the way. They are for use with contacts in, not cheap stuff though. almost 10 bucks for a 1oz bottle.

I can't wear anything but the dailies, as my eyes get very irritated by the preservative used in both eye drops and the cleaning solutions. I have to use Refresh Plus eyedrops (single-use vials). Over time, I've gotten to the point where I don't really need the eye drops much, usually once a day.

I've been wearing the Acuvue2 extended wear contacts for several years. My doctor told me it would be best to take them out every night, but he also said that I can sleep with them in for up to six nights, removing them for the seventh. I tend to leave them in longer than that, but my eyes look healthy at every annual exam. I'm getting ready to try the new B&L Multi-Focal lenses on a free trial basis if my doctor will approve them. I'd love to put the readers away.

My favorite are the daily ones, which i actually wear for 3-4 days, putting them in saline at night (my doc even recommended this). Definitely the most comfortable and if one starts to feel whack, i just toss it and grab another one.

I have the 2 week Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism. Last time I ordered lenses there weren't any daily lenses for toric that were the right size for me, but I see they have some now, so I may try them next. I like the idea of dailies because I have bad allergies, and the pollen can build up on the lenses.

My astigmatism is bad enough to need torics, I read those are a bit of a pain to get use to wearing. I am leaning towards the idea of the dallies because I like the idea of just tossing them at the end of the day. I guess I will have to wait and see how they wear before i decide. No one has mentioned any drawbacks to either types so I guess thats really a wash...

i have astigmatism and wear the 2 week soflens torics. i've tried other torics, but they are only 33% water and feel like sand paper on my eyes. the soflens kind are 66% water and feel like heaven. been wearing this kind for 6-7 years now? docs keep trying to change me to 'this new model' of lens, but they all suck to me
allergies do mess with me a bunch. i generally wear my contacts 5 days a week. i can sleep in them up to 7 days, but i take them out every night. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
