Most shooters that I know that are proficient in the Failure Drill (or Mozambique) prefer the 9mm over the .45. As an owner of both, I have the .45 in a box in my extra room and the 9mm in my night stand loaded with my special hand loads.

Watch that, handloads will get you sued, and you will most likely lose in civil court even if you are 100% justified in the criminal arena. I know for us handloads are completely contraindicated. I just shoot my .45 better than I did any of my 9mm's except for the Browning High Power I gave my dad. Quote:

I like both my 9mm, but am considering a 45. I bought the 9mm so wife could also learn to shoot and get her CHL, but she does not seem interested.
Any one want a 9mm? | | | |

With high performance 9mm ammunition, it will get the job done with more capacity and less recoil to deal with. I haven't seen anything get deader with a 45 then a 9. I own 9/40/45 and have to say, 40SW is my favorite. | | | |

Carry whatever you shoot best with. No sense in sending flying ashtrays that don't hit anything. | | | |

Shot placement is the most important thing.
However, with Winchester Ranger T- Series
9mm = 320.00 foot pounds
40 SW = 391.83 foot pounds
45 auto = 418.39 foot pounds. | | | |

based on the way that I shot the last time I took out my 9mm, I think if my life depends on it I will stick with the 12 ga.
I took the 9mm out to the farm the other day, and honestly couldn't locate half of the shots in the back stop (an old farm house with wood walls -- I was firing at the back of a white fiberglass chair so the holes in the "target" showed up instantly.)
I may not be able to hit someone with a shot gun blast any better, but if I do miss, I can always use it as a club and beat the hell out of them.
---------------------------
Nevermind -- I'll take care of it myself!
