saw all the other gun threads so i decided to start one ;)

so has any one heard any rumors about an anniversary edition next year? It will be 100 years of the 1911. (doing what no other gun can do)

I think it would be pretty nice to see a centennial edition or something.

Since anyone can now make a 1911, I would imagine that a million anniversary editions will pop up. Of course, the Colt would be the one to get, if you want to stick with tradition...

I don't know about the ONLY way to go... both springfield and wilson combat will probably have some pretty nice anniversary editions worth owning!

Add to that list - Dan Wesson, Ed Brown, Kimber, Les Baer, STI, and a few others. Although I expect that Colt, Springfield and Wilson Combat will make particularly nice looking ones. I also wouldn't count on them becoming instant collectors items because there will be so many of them.

Agreed with the mass production statement chuck. I think mostly i would be interested in seeing Colts, Kimbers, Dan Wesson, and possibly Night Hawk if they make one. I would love seeing the models they design.

If you get a 1911, you get it to shoot. Unless you get a genuine wwI or wwII government model, then you've got a collectible piece.

OK let's get old school here how about Singer Sewing company making the centennial version Now that would be a collector's piece For those who didn't know it Singer made 500 1911's (500-599 I think). I personally have #4XX and as Maxwell Smart said "Missed it by that much!!"

I can tell it has a 1911-A1 barrel in it and is missing one grip screw

LOL I wouldn't trade/sell this thing if someone offered me the world. This was my grandfather's gun and I never met him so this and a few pics are my only keepsakes.

I like your 1911 but in general I'm a plastic gun kinda guy. Plus I prefer my Winchester Ranger 127 grain +P+ ammo

Well excuse my ignorance. Care to explain why the 1911 is SO superior over the rest?

It is not superior. It just makes bigger holes that leak faster!!! That's what Clint Smith told me many years ago when I took a handgun course at Thunder Ranch when it was in Mt Home, Texas. Tri
