That's awesome. Every time my wife and I fly out to the west coast, we have to stop at In-N-Out at least once. Still haven't figured out all the "secret menu" stuff. Maybe I'll learn now.

Had my First In- N-Out Burger this year and IT WAS GOOD- their Fries are very very Good! (now this is in relation to the price of said burger since Snuffer's Swiss Cheese Burger would kick it's ass but it's twice the price).

Never saw the fascination with in and out burger!! It doesn't hold a candle to Whataburger a Texas Icon and what about Kincaid's? Hamburger place from California comparison to one from Texas. Its like buying a salsa from New York City. IMHO

Hamburger place from California comparison to one from Texas. Its like buying a salsa from New York City. IMHO | That is your own personal opinion. I've had burgers from scads of places, both one of a kind joints, and chains. They're all different, and that's great! I happen to like a double meat-double cheese-Whataburger-with jalapeño-and the works. I also like In and Out cheeseburgers with the works, and their fries, made on site from freshly peeled and cut, whole spuds, are outstanding. I haven't had a Wendy's triple cheeseburger in awhile, but I like them too, and my wife makes a mean cheeseburger! You cannot make a comparison like you are attempting without admitting that it boils down to personal opinion/preference.

In and Out SMOKES Whataburger BTW........ JMHO | Several years ago, my wife and I went on a 3 week vacation, driving from Arizona up through Glacier National Park, over to Washington's Olympic Peninsula, and down the Pacific Coast into the California wine country. Had a great time. One of the things we did was to try to find independent, one of a kind, burger joints/stands, along the way, and have lunch. The difference between offerings was amazing, it's hard to imagine that there are that many ways to make a burger! It was a tasty comparison that we enjoyed very much. No, we didn't do that every day, but we did do it many times during that 3 weeks.
As I said that was several years ago, so I no longer recall each and every burger that we had, but, most were very good. While it would be nigh impossible to pick a winner out of the ones we had, none were losers. I look at chains pretty much the same way. That said, we wouldn't touch Sonic with a ten foot pole, same for Burger King, but that's our own tastes talking here, and both chains appear to be alive and well without the benefit of our business. It may be of interest to point out that some years ago Popeye's chicken joints ran KFC clear out of New Orleans, because Popeye's food better suited the tastes of the folks in that area (A good friend of mine had an area Popeye's franchise here several years ago).
Overwhelmingly, the one of a kind joints that we've tried over the years produced better burgers than the chains that we've tried. Some of those places warrant going out of our way just to be able to get one, none of the chains ever reached that level for us.

I heard them talking about this on another site but haven't ever tried one myself while in the areas they exist.
Here in San Antonio my favorites for a good burger are Uncle Barny's (part of Hungry Farmer, Chris Madrids, Lonestar Cafe, and Timbo's (used to be manager of Little Hips for years before they closed down). | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
