From a rescue site I look at frequently: Border Collie Rescue • View topic - Male & Female BC Mixes Need Immediate Rescue - Corsicana, TX

I talked to Lynn, the woman who runs a rescue down in Corsicana. She is currently fostering 15, yes 15 dogs already, so she just cannot take this beautiful BC/BC mix pair. They have looked for the owners, but suspect that these dogs were dumped, as have many others in that area, due to the economy. She says they are smart, very sweet and friendly dispositions, love to ride in the car and are really bonded together (don't know if they are related or not, but maybe). They are also just beautiful. I would love to adopt them, but with elderly houseguests right now, I am probably a few months away from being able to do that. Anyway, I know there are a lot of dog lovers on this forum, so I'm hoping someone will have just the right spot for them.

This is happening all over due to the downturn in the economy. People that I know here that are involved in rescue have their hands full with the sheer numbers that they are seeing. Rescues make great companions.

Both of our dogs are rescues, and yes they make great cpmpamions. I hope someone can give them a home.

I can say from experience that rescue dogs are the best! And Carl, yes, the people I know in rescue are saying the same thing about the numbers and the increase in people dumping dogs and walking away. So sad.

Just dumping a dog is cruel and unusual punishment. There are worse things for a dog than euthanasia, if a suitable home cannot be found. Dumping is a painful death sentence in many cases.

My avatar is a shot of our current rescue girl, an absolutely fabulous dog! The ONLY dog that I've ever had that has never gotten into anything that she was not supposed to. She has that over our purebred bullmastiffs, who while wonderful, were also full of mischief at times.
