Most stations have those signs. It's to keep people like me from walking into the "convenience" store to get something to drink or the opposite of that while the pump is running. Sometimes the nozzle sticks and then fuel flows all over the place which is a bit of a hazard.

I don't think I have ever seen a BP gas station. If I do I'll have to check them out

I know some of them are saying "accidents happen, keep drilling". That is from families who lost loved ones in the accident. What's your point?

My wifes cousin works for them down near Texas City and I never saw one either until we went to Florida. They are all over the place down near Orlando.
