Anyone buy stuff from adorama? - 06-14-2010, 04:32 PM

I have purchased from them before via Amazon, but this time I never received my lens. The shipper shows it as delivered but I never got it. Then when I called Adorama they just said that after it leaves their hands they aren't responsible for it and told me that it was my responsibility to take it up with the shipper. I felt this was horrible customer service. I thought since it was their shipper that they paid, they would take ownership for resolution. Was I expecting too much? Is this the norm?

Never used them but it sounds like crap to me. I've used Amazon a million times and never had any issues.

If you bought it through Amazon, even though it came from another vendor, don't you still need to take it up with Amazon first?

Actually Amazon says to take it up with the vendor 1st. That is why I called them and tried to see what they would do for me.

Do a search on here for adorama, if I remember correctly, a name was mentioned at Adorama which had always been helpful.

I've done orders through Amazon which utilized Adorama with no issues, so hopefully they provided the incorrect tracking number. What's the date of delivery and general location?

The date of delivery was June 9th and Dallas, TX. I confirmed the tracking number matched my address for delivery.

Adorama is usually awesome. They are one of my first choices. Contact Joel Adorama. Here is his FB page: Leslie Spurlock Photography | Facebook. He's a really nice guy.

I buy quite a bit from Adorama and other than it not being clear when a filter was out of stock, and the slow speed the used section used to update at, never had any issues.

I have absolutely no hesitation about purchasing through 2 specific online vendors for photography stuff - and Adorama is one of them (B&H is the other). They are one of the best!

It does sound like it might be a shipper issue, but I am still surprised that they didn't offer to help more than that. Holler at them at the info listed above or call again and get someone who isn't having a horrible day... or contact the carrier (UPS or FedEx or USPS or whoever) and see what they say. Was it supposedly left on your porch?

UPS left some expensive jewelery on my porch last November while cars were lined up to pick up their kids from a nearby school.
Needless to say..someone saw them leave it and helped themselves to it.
UPS covered it...but it took a ton of work !

I have bought a lot of gear from Adorama without any problems. My experiences have always been excellent. I would contact the shipping company first to see what they can do. Then try contacting Adorama again with the information you received from the shipping company.
