Very good to know!

I enjoyed reading those comments...

There are some really, really stupid people out there with inflated egos.

"yeah lets see ya do it w/ no windows einstien" How ironic is his misspelling...

Then you have these rocket scientists who don't realize that most break-ins happen when you're not home and think that guns make everything ok...

"my bullet travels faster into his head then 6 seconds!!"

"Well lets see how this goes when you come to my house... "one" I put down my beer, "two" I walk to the gun safe, "three" I chamber a round as I walk to the garage, "four" I stop and listen, "five"..... BANG YOUR DEAD A****LE"

.

The only thing I don't like about these types of informational videos on youtube is that it gives people ideas. not that there aren't people who already know this technique but it spreads it to the masses of idiots who will now think they are masters at breaking and entering. And like it or not some kid will try this and one of those "put down beer and shoot" people will kill someone. just my $.02

Well, if someone gets killed while burglarizing, or breaking and entering, then what's the problem?

In my life I have know a lot of good people who have done stupid things that don't deserve to be killed over it..that's all.

I had some kids run in my garage and steal my gas cans with me in the house and never felt the need at any point to shoot them Although I had my .45 out and presented when I saw them. I got their plate number, turned it in to the police and they were arrested shortly there after. Two of them ended up being very well known and respected kids at a local school hanging out with one kid who was well known by the police dept. I had a split second to decide to pull the trigger or not, glad I chose the right option.

And anyone who has not been in that situation can not say 100% what they will do. The decision process that has to be made in seconds is full of options. So do you think a 5 gal can of gas is worth a life..I sure hope not.

I have a rollup door on my garage, and like every other one that I've seen, it has a sliding deadbolt to engage when the garage is secured. Using that deadbolt would have prevented the illegal entry in this posted video.

FYI, I have absolutely zero sympathy for criminals stealing from me, or even from you. They all know what they are doing is illegal, and now they know that stealing from you carries no risk to their life and limb.

Or a dog WITH a gun!

I could still break a window in less then 6 seconds. Locks only keep honest people out anyway.

Why do folks put windows in garage doors, and then expect them to be secure? Isn't that rather like putting a cute little window, complete with polka dot curtains into a bank vault door? Appears to be be counter productive to me.

I'm not saying that my garage door is the perfect solution. But, you aren't going to get in in 6 seconds, or without making one helluva lot of noise, alerting the neighbors. Moreover, you aren't going to look through the non-existant window to see if there's anything worth stealing. Before anyone asks, there are no windows in my garage at all, not even in the sidewalls. YMMV

Well said, Patrick. The bigger problem is people who value human life so little that they would, or say they would, shoot and kill someone who was stealing something from their garage. That disturbs me more than the thief's desire for said item.

I promise you that you are far more concerned for the welfare of criminals than they are over yours. I find that disturbing. That, or course, is your right, and it's mine to protect my property, within the confines of the law.

That won't work unless you have an automatic garage door opener which has the safety release. You guys who were too cheap to get one may snicker.
