I find myself a 45 divorced with nothing but married friends, have any of you ever tried this Events and Adventures singles club? Internet dating isnt working for me for many reason. Likely the same reasons anyone else who has tried and disliked have had.

Anyway, looking for a little feedback on this group if its around.

I heard that it gets to be quite expensive.

I have been reading some pretty scary reviews of this company. Sounds like a really bad deal to get involved with.

Yeah, its an grand or two just to join, and all that gets you is an invite to their functions, which are ala carte.

I wouldnt touch this group with a 500mm lens on a ten foot pole (< making it about photography. ;-) ) after the reviews I have read. I read maybe 50 or 75 reviews on two different review sights. Maybe 1% were good, the rest painted a picture of high pressure sales tactics to out an out lying about services and contracts. Then very crappy customer service after the sale.

ROB, I'm not married "yet" but have meet 15 different women for coffee and have had several dates with a few from Plenty of Fish.
For an ugly guy like me, 15 different women in 2 months is not bad.

Everything I have heard about this group makes it sound like a giant scam. I've known a couple of girls who used to work for them and they acted like the sales people for gym membership - ie. high pressure, condescending (telling you you're not going to meet anybody on your own if you haven't already, blahblahblah).

And pretty much it's not like they do anything that you can't do on your own. They set up "parties" (from what I heard most in public bars where anybody can go to), and you're on your own. They're the equivalent of the photography "workshops" that you see advertised where they get the free models and the free public space and charge you for it. Just cut out the middle man ;)

The bigger issue here is if you're looking to meet someone to date, you'd be shooting yourself in the foot if everybody in the group knows everybody else. On a dating site if you meet someone and it doesn't work out, no harm no foul - you just try to meet someone else and it's unlikely your last attempt will follow you. In a setting where everybody knows each other on the other hand, if you go out with someone a few times, everybody in the group knows about it so if things don't work out, you're pretty much SOL if you try to go out with someone else in the same group. (see the movie A Beautiful Mind for the theory).

Here is the clip :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5jrNoNNtrE

PS. here is the citysearch review: apparently this is a bigger scam than first thought: $1600/ year?? http://houston.citysearch.com/profil...dventures.html
