I just think this may cause rape to escalate into something much worse for the woman.

It's sad Paul, but you are likely right. I'm sure the man who was "trapped" would be come even more enraged and beat the poor woman to death. Until they see rape as wrong and violent it won't stop. Plus, so many women in Africa are raped by men they know--even their husbands. The dr. has a good heart but I don't know that this is the solution.

I would rather they just gave the women guns. I figure it would be just as effective. I fear that Paul is right -- the already violent man will more than likely become enraged. Most of the information that I have ever read about rape states that the act of rape is not about sex, but about control and domination, and deep seeded emotional issues. Add a trap like this to the mix, and you are very likely to set of an already likely lethal situation.

I agree the rape has already occurred at that point. Rape is about control and domination. This will increase the rage portion of the control and domination. I think that a concealed weapon and laws that support it would be a greater deterrent.
