That was a blurb on the national news last night.
Steve's reply..."don't hold the phone that way"

Brilliant.

I got the new iPhone and love it! I've tried duplicating the holding issue and can only duplicate it about 10% of the time. So it isn't a big issue for me!

Actually I think his reply really is brilliant. Use your common sense until they introduce an alternative fix. People just love to complain. Especially about Apple products.

If no one dare to raise voices and complains, there wouldn't be any fixes, won't it? Now that's common sense.

Yep my iPhone 4 and my wife's IP4 both have the reception problem. Thing is I don't normally hold the phone such that it causes much of a problem but it can and does happen to me. Supposedly Apple is working on a firmware fix involving the software's control of the baseband and frequencies used.

AppleInsider | Death Grip hysteria may end Monday with iOS 4.01

Hopefully that will at the very least alleviate the problem for most people.

Mine came in Wednesday morning. Works perfectly w/ the car charger I always used on 3G. And have not experienced any of the currently reported issues.

For the record...I did pop into an Apple store today to see for myself. One of the iDudes said the same thing; he could only get it happen very very seldom. couldn't get it to do so while I was there though.

Typical media machine...find something minor and make a mole hill.

The CNet article said if the signal was weak to start with the problem was more pronounced.

that would be the "Bumper" as talked about by Jobs at the WWDC. I tried looking for one last Thursday and they didn't have any at the Willowbrook store. I want to go grab one.

I went this past Saturday in search of a case...me and every other iPhone owner did too.

Since I live in the Willowbrook area I search all the surround stores that carried any types of cases for the iPhones. SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE! I just assumed Best Buy would be sold out like all the other stores but I stopped in anyways.

They had a table setup with a bunch cases left. The selection wasn't great but a least they had some. When I got there it was me and another guy. We started talking about how we were driving all over the area. By the time I left there were six of us chatting, comparing iPhone stories, and opening package trying on cases.

Ringtones - No
SMS - No

I found some "Office Phone" mp3s I liked and used iRinger to convert them into iPhone ringtones. I believe you have to jb the iPhone to add custom SMS sounds.

At least you have a few SMS tones to choose from, the thing that really annoys me is the lack of customizable mail sounds - mail sound is either on or off, no choice on what sound plays.
