I wouldn't do it. There are already all the features you probably need. I think jailbreaking my 3G several times eventually slowed my phone down and reduced the battery life.

I've always had mine jailbroken. Especially since Apple would not approve the wireless iTunes sync app into the Apple store. And I've not had any problem nor any slow-down.

I am ! every Iphone I have had has been jailbroken with no ill effect

Same here. I heard that they have jailbroken iOS4, so only a matter of time before the new iPhone 4 will be.
