Road trip ideas - 06-28-2010, 09:16 AM

I need help here. I am single (no constraints) and with the weekend coming up I have fours days to kill. Not wanting to just sit at home, I am looking for a good four day road trip that would provide some good photo ops. Excluding San Antonio as I have been there a million times.

What do ya got? Hit me....

+1 on the churches...Fredericksburg is on the list but imho not worth the drive from Fayette/Lavaca Co...if you make it to Shiner (definitely worth the few xtra miles), head on over towards Hallettsville and do St Mary's (try the side door if the front is closed) (a mile or so off 90a on fm340)...

four days -- can get you to Destin and back with 2 days on the beach....

Or anywhere before there, and I hear that many of the places that would have been crowded are not so much due to the oil spill, so might be a very nice time to head down the gulf coast

New Orleans might be fun as well

I would want to head out West since I've never been any further than Abilene... and/or head up the pan handle.

+1 for New Orleans... just make sure you leave bail money on the dresser.

OK you are in Houston- I would just drive east along the gulf coast until you come across something that catches your eye-could be just getting into the Big Thicket or as far as Alabama where the tar balls are hitting the beaches, if you decide to go to New Orleans just don't do the B street drunkenness thing, get out into the suburbs especially to the South and see how this BP thing is affecting their lives. If they don't have the relief wells in by about the 12th of July I may head down that way and see what is really going on. Heading to New Mexico or farther west would be a waste of 2 days just traveling to get in and out of the state- if you decided to go west then I would just head out to the Big Bend area.
