The ball and Chain! - 06-28-2010, 05:09 PM

Ok I have been blessed with a second chance in life with a woman i feel is such a perfect unique match for me and I want to get your thoughts on a memorable way of presenting my eternal love to her. Like staging an entire crowd to stop in the middle of a downtown street while I get on one knee to ask for her hand. Something like that. Not your typical every day, she almost swallowed the ring and I now have a dental bill, situation.

It will be memorable anyway you do it b/c it's you doing it. My husband had my girls help him propose. I was sitting on the couch in PJs w/ wet hair and they came marching in with flowers. It was far from a movie moment in that I looked horrible but it was a moment I will never forget!

pick a time and place that will be special for you both!

Congrats!!!

note sure you'd have to stage the middle of the street.. pretty sure dropping to one knee would draw a crowd in the right location.

you are so correct. I often complicate things more than I need to but I am a firm believer in making the most of a moment so that the things around the moment continue to bring in happy thoughts. For instance everyday the woman I love drives the same what to work but one day i took dozens of her favorite colored balloons and tied them to a street sign. Now almost more often than not she will text me or tell me that sign makes her smile. I want that type of moment magnified 10 fold. Maybe I am simply asking to much. I simply enjoy going through the efforts to show her.

Maybe I am simply blinded by the unbelievable complete filling I have searched years for and now have.

Thank you both for your comments.

let me look for it. I started to collect ideas for different ways to ask the one you love to marry you. I know I have it some where.

LOL smart, very smart. I think I may give myself a bit more time to plan but a photo walk would be fun.

get a barber shop quartet to sing your proposal in public?
Do it at the top of a roller coaster?
Pretend to take a photo of her, then show it to her on your camera... but really you pull up a picture of the ring and the words, "will you marry me?"
arrange with a band/musician that she likes to propose in the middle of the concert?
buy a billboard to propose?
Ask your preacher if you can propose in front of your congregation at the end of Sunday service?
Just don't text her the big question.

Ok so we both have children and I like the idea that they need to be involved in this situation because they are important in making this happen also. Hmmmmm skating ring maybe. LOL during disco night. HAHA. But all jokes aside I do appreciate the insight and participations. This is very important to me.

I had a friend who hired a plane to fly over with a banner behind it asking his girlfriend to marry him while we (a group of college friends) were on a ski trip with them. It was the talk of the town that night and lots of fun to witness.

Have a police car pull you over for speeding or something. The officer asks you both to get out. You go to the back of the car. The officer says that you are in a "no singles" area and he has to take you to the station. You drop to one knee and propose. The officer says she'd better say yes, or you are all going to jail. ( kids can be included in this scenario).

If she says no, you'd probably be happy to go to jail.
