Before I upgraded to OS X 10 I had Quicktime Pro installed. Now it's called QuickTime Player version 10.0. I found version 7 but that seems like I'm going backwards... Any macsperts out there that can help me? How do I get Pro back or do I need to?

That's weird. Maybe you need to re-download the Pro version and enter the key you were given for the one before you upgraded to OSX?

Michael I suffered the same shock when I upgraded to 10.6. The only fix for this is to go ahead and install QT 7 from the disk, then input your pro serial again. Kinda sucks having to have 2 versions of the same application but that's what Apple did to us.

I don't own quicktime pro so I can't be much help. Did you check out this KB article?

Installing QuickTime Player 7 on Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard

Is sounds like Snow Leopard is supposed to install QT 7 in the utilities folder if it detects a QT pro serial number on your system.

When I upgraded my iMac from 10.5 (with QT Pro) to 10.6 the system put my QT Pro under Applications->Utilities and even though it's called QT7 Player (which it might have been before the upgrade too) it has the functionality of my previous QT Pro.

I do like the new QT 10 for viewing stuff but if you want to export/import/reencode/crop/etc. then forget it, QT 10 has a long long way to go - it's like a pretty beauty pageant contestant who can't form an intelligent answer to a question.

It is in the utilities folder, it was pretty pure luck that I located mine after my upgrade to snow leopard.

Yes the mac os will not allow the downloaded version to install. You will need your snowleopard installation disk. The version found on the disk will install into the utilities folder.

Thank you all for this. I too had QT 7 Pro, but thought I had lost it when I upgraded to snow leopard. Without you I would have never found it buried in the Utilities folder. All is good now.

Ditto on all accounts I installed it from the original disk but it may have already been installed since I didn't have to input my serial number.
