I was just wondering what the concensus might be on hot sauce?
I pondered this tonight as I reached into the spice cabinet tonight to get a sauce to put on the steak I was eating.
I ended up going with cholula. Currently it is my favorite followed closely by the green jalepeno tabasco.
Back in North Carolina there was one called Texas Pete's that was very prevalent and had a great flavor to it.
and the melinda's habenero sauces are all very nice as well.
so what is your favorite?

Depends on what I am eating...
I happened to have some Texas Pete's this past Monday and it was very nice.
I prefer the Chipotle Tabasco over most of the others, Franks Red Hot is good on chicken.
I do like Cholula, nothing to complain about there. I think I have 15-20 different options, and like or dislike them based on the food I am eating.

As I posted on another forum Specs Liquor Store on Smith St. near Downtown Houston has a great selection of hot sauces in the deli section.

Goes great on brisket, and is like a hot smoky BBQ sauce. Wonderful stuff, add Tobasco Green, Cholula for me. Quote:

I had some Texas Pete's the other day and it was pretty darn good. But my current favorite is Crystal. It's a little mild maybe, but I like the flavor.

Cholula is a good medium heat with a fair amount of flavor sauce.
Sriracha is a good sauce with a lot of flaver and some heat to it as well.
Tobasco brand sauces are pretty much nothing but heat with little flavor, and they're usually not very hot. I use the Chipotle one for burgers and also in an avocado shrimp salad I make occasionally.
Texas Pete isn't bad, it can be found in little packets next to the ketchup at Chik-Fil-A lol.
There's a lot of stuff out there. If I remember correctly, in September there's a hot sauce festival here in Houston. Might be worth checking out if you're a hot sauce lover.

When I want it hot:
Dave's Insanity Sauce
(made my He-Man step son cry at age 20, now he steers clear of the bottle )
or
Maddog 357 (as hot or hotter than Dave's Insanity sauce)
When I am after just a good kick I use
El Yucatan habanero (available at walmart in red or green, they have a brown what is hotter but I can't find it locally)
or Cholula's
For a salsa I like Mrs. Renfro's Habanero...
Excellent flavor and heat...I use it to make queso dip and love it on eggs or omeletes...great for taco's and mexican dishes too...
