I bought a D700 yesterday!! I have refused to even look at one because, of course I knew I would want to buy it. I went yesterday fully intending to buy and finally held it and put on my 24-70. OMG. The DOF is AMAZING. Then, I came home and shot damn near in the dark in my living room at 6400 ISO and there is hardly any noise at all. Yes, its love folks.

Congrats you will love the D700
Mine has been a workhouse and never a bit of trouble.
The 24-70 2.8 is also a great lens and stays on my D700 or D3.
You can do very good low light with this combo.

The D700 doesn't shoot in low light, it works in high dark!

Congrats. I have had great success with my D3. Put good glass in front of that sensor and you'll be rewarded with great images.

Thanks! I just shot a wedding with it Sat. It is true love. I thought the adjustment to the full frame would bother me, but in fact, it was the opposite. I didn't feel as crowded as I usually do with my 24-70 and I barely used my 80-200 at all on the crop sensor.

At the wedding, I mostly used the 24-70 on the D700 and the 80-200 on the D300. I'm still recovering from carrying the extra weight for 8.5 hours. I think I may limit dragging two cameras around all day to just the ceremony and just keep it handy at the reception.
