Life is Good, Today. - 07-11-2010, 10:19 PM

Just finished a 9 day road trip.

Woke up this morning in Pecos. Brought home a half dozen of their finest.

Had an early dinner at the Alamo Cafe in SA.

Easy drive on home.

Not a DPS officer in sight.

Tonight, I sleep in my own bed.

Glad to hear that you had a good time and made it home safely. Looking forward to seeing some pics.

We did Ok with the Hotel/Motel thing.

We caught a brand new Hampton Inn for $75.00 in NM.
Saturday we stayed in a brand new Hampton Inn in Pecos for $107.

Found a great Motel in CA outside Sequoia for &65.00.

But for the most part we averaged ~$75. for 3 people.

Fuel was catch as catch can. About $800. for the trip

A shiny new Hampton for $75 is a deal! Where did you find that? Hampton Inn is my favorite place to stay (except for Clayton, NM... The Kokopelli Lodge is my favorite there).

That's not too bad (fuel) considering you went to / from California.

Demming NM.

We wanted to stay in Las Cruces. My wife has an Aunt we needed to visit.

Only place we had an issue with a room.

The Jehovah's Witnesses were having a convention there that weekend...

Ohhhh Demming.... I stayed there once. I decided to ride my VTX to California and then ride back to Tombstone with some buds. Did you know that the high desert is freakin cold at night in March? and that people go to nowhere for spring break so even in the middle of nowhere the hotels are all full? I didn't... when I finally got to Demming I was pretty much a motorcycle riding Popsicle. The Hampton wasn't there back then but there was 1 motel with a room and I gratefully stayed there.

Demming is not too far from the continental divide, so you got some altitude to cool it down some. When I was trucking across there I usually stopped at the trading post at exit 42 nice quiet place only a few trucks stopped there and on cool crisp nites you could really see why we live in the Milky Way.
