PLEASE VOTE! 50mm Challenge Entries! - 07-13-2010, 08:42 PM

Please see original thread located HERE for details.

Below you will find all the entries for the 50mm Challenge project. Please vote for your favorite photo above.

Lets's keep this as fair as possible. If you own one of the photos, please keep that information to yourself, in order to keep the anonymity. Please do not send out mass emails asking for votes from other photography forums. Please refrain from any formal critique of ANY of the pictures, so that someone else's vote is not influenced.

Just as information, in order to create a more neatly assembled thread, I uploaded these to my personal Flickr account. Rest assured, they will be deleted from my account after the contest has ended. In addition, I have used your submitted EXIF info for the caption below each photograph. It was easier, and cleaner to simply retype it myself, than it was to include thumbnails of your EXIF. I have made every attempt to keep this as fair as possible, you have my word. No information has been changed, and those of you who had photos resized have received emails stating such.

Entries are posted in order they were submitted.

Looks like the 5DmkII was the most used camera... Mamiya 6 was one of the most unexpected entries for me to see listed!

I just looked closer at entry number five, and... do we need to call a doctor?!? Somebody definitely has a dark side!

If entry five combines all those pills and liquor with entry ten's pile of beer, we will surely have one dead model on our hands!!!

7/20ths are the real 50mm lens photos. The rest are portions of real 50mm photos.
Mamiya 6? Who knew? I coulda entered the Pentax Beast and the Hassy. Next time make it clear that "normal" lenses from any format are acceptable.
Square negatives indeed.

Morbid yes, but interesting to see how a picture can bring a story to life.

That's interesting... I thought the rule was a 50mm lens regardless of film size or format... not "the "normal" lens. I had considered the 50mm on the Bronica 6x6...

No big deal but I wonder, are these maximum size? (800/800, 800/600 etc.)

It's a tough one to decide, regarding "normal lens" vs. 50mm on any format. You can say that you should shoot the normal lens for your format, which would really be the 80mm on a hassie. However, then you have to disqualify the people who shot a 50mm on their 50D, because the "normal" focal length on an APS-C sensor is actually smaller - like a 35mm lens.

I think the whole idea of the contest was to break out your nifty-fifty for your 35mm body, since it is a classic lens that many people tend to overlook/forget about. I think it's great that a medium format image was entered. However, it does start to make the rules and intent of the contest a bit more complex...

In any case, it is nice to see everyone's pics on display in one thread!
