I don't think there might be too much to do, with the population being 33,000... I thought Sugar Land, TX was small with a population of 79,000! Quote:

Beaver Lake is near by, so if you have the time to rent a boat that is one of the most beautiful lakes I've ever been to. Eureka Springs is about 45 minutes to an hour away. That's a really cool little town nestled in the hills. Lost of cool shops and restaurants.

The Pea Ridge Civil War battlefield is not too far from there if you're into historical things like that. Also, if you are a musician, Janet Davis' music store is in Bentonville which is a great banjo and guitar store.

I have never been, but I knew someone who was from there. He made it sound like the kind of place you wouldn't want to vacation at. There might be some good photo opportunities, but a wife, GF and/or kids might be bored to death there...

drove thru some years back, and sure nuff...
don't know about now but it was a nice little place to explore and shop...

You may be able to find some landscape shot potential with maybe an old "southern baptist style" church in the foreground, but otherwise if you ain't there to deal with Wally World there ain't no reason for it to be a destination! I believe that you start to enter the Ozarks there which can be very scenic, would be nicer if it was the fall and you had leaves changing .

Used to be leased on to JB Hunt, just up the road from Bentonville. Not much around except for Walmart and lots of industry, small industry.... and chicken farms, Springdale, just down the road was called by truckers Chickendale because of all the poultry from there. At this time of yr its just burnt up grass, green leaves and rocks and round there. If you are driving the trip down 71 has a few big hills on the sound end as you get close to Van Buren, and Van Buren does have a scenic railway.

I used to live in that area. Bentonville has no doubt changed so much with the way Wal-Mart has developed it that anything I could tell you would be useless. However, as stated, Eureka Springs is very picturesque. Everything from trailer trash to Victorian-style architecture to modern mansions on hilltops. Quite the tourist trap. Branson, MO to the NE is similar but bigger and less rustic, trying to be more Vegas or Opryland. Beautiful lakes and rivers (with bluffs. I like the Buffalo!), big hills they call mountains, and wildlife all through there.
A bit more directly south from Bentonville is Fayetteville. That's a college town so there will be more "to do."

Here are a few point and shoot pics from about 6 years ago. These will give you an idea of what Beaver Lake and Eureka Springs are like. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
