I have a family (husband, wife and dog) coming down all the way from Canada just to do a family shoot with me. Guess I'm going to start doing more family shoots, but unique ones, of course. I've got 3 on the books right now, and I swore I'd never do a family shoot, but if they are willing to come down from Canada, how can I not do something like that?

Leslie, this has everything to do with hard work and skill. They re comin to hire you because you have perfected a look, style and feel to your images that attracts them. You worked hard to get here, be proud!

Awe, thanks a ton, Phil!! I am just a little shocked by all the requests for family stuff. I told the Canadian people that I will only do it if I can do it in a different way than the traditional family shoots. They were all for that, luckily. But it's just overwhelming that they are coming down for that since there are some AMAZING photographers in Canada. I'm nowhere near as good as them. Luckily for me, they must not know about them lol.

Haha, I used to be a travel agent. Actually, that might have helped if I was. I have a bride trying to get me a hotel room at their hotel in the Dominican Rep., but it's sold out. Plus, for my airline ticket (she's in Canada), she is having to go up to the airport in Canada before my flight and show her credit card so they will let me on. I thought that was kind of weird. My clients haven't had to do that before.

Now, I just need to come up with places for an all day family shoot!

Leslie - you know why they're coming to see you. It's because your style is unique and it fits their style. As for the Canadian photographers, they cant duplicate your style.

Nothing wrong with photographing Familes, it's one of the best photo markets out there, especially if your offering something different for them.

Just to make sure... they are legit, right?!? They aren't going to send a money order in advance, then ask for you to send some back for some odd reason? I've never seen one of those scams come out of Canada, but there are a LOT of photog scams regarding subjects coming in from out of town and paying with a money order.

Lol, no Jason, they are legit. They are fans of my FB page, and I have lots of clients from Canada. Some come down here, but most I do destination stuff with. I have received the scams many times before, and I ignore them.

I figured it was legit. I just had to throw the scam info out there, since the scams are getting more and more complex... harder to spot.
