IOS4 for the 3G model - 07-29-2010, 02:45 PM

I have the 3g and it has been sluggish since upgrading to the latest IOS, but found something today that might have helped...

Neowin.net - Sluggish iOS 4 performance on the iPhone 3G? We have the fix

basically

Quote:
To remedy the sluggish performance (or at least one cause of it) go to “Settings->General->Home Button->Spotlight Search-> deselect every option” and this will stop background indexing on the phone.
Seems to have really snapped mine back to regular performance that I was accustomed to prior to IOS 4

ROFL! I love this comment from that article:

Also, go to “Settings->General->Home Button->Reality Distortion Field-> deselect every option”

I heard 4.02 will get Vista mode, that's unselected all graphic features and run in legacy mode. :)

Not sure if it's all in my head, but it seemed to help for me also. Thanks for the tip!

Oh holy crap. I just did it now and it's snappy again. OMG. Thank you! I've been cursing Apple all day today for nearly bricking our old iPhones. I want to ride out the upgrade fever as long as possible :)
